Modular, dispatchable solar thermal system recognized among top innovations changing how we live, work and power the world
MIAMI, October 15, 2026 — Exowatt, a renewable energy company delivering high-quality heat and electricity, today announced that its P3 modular energy system has been named to TIME’s annual list of the Best Inventions of 2026, recognizing 300 innovations changing our lives.
The Exowatt P3 captures and stores solar energy as heat, then converts it into electricity on demand to provide dispatchable renewable power around the clock. Each unit fits within a standard shipping container footprint, enabling customers to deploy power generation quickly and scale with demand. The P3 is designed for energy-intensive customers, including AI data centers and utility, commercial and industrial sites.
“Sunlight is the most abundant energy resource on Earth, yet historically we have only been able to use it while the sun is up. The P3 changes that equation by turning sunlight into stored heat and delivering power around the clock,” said Hannan Happi, Co-Founder and CEO of Exowatt. “As AI and electrification drive the largest growth in power demand in generations, we believe firm solar power can become a foundation for the next century of energy. Being named to TIME’s Best Inventions list is a recognition of our team and the customers and partners building that future with us.”
To compile this year’s list, TIME solicited nominations from editors and correspondents around the world and through an online application process, with particular attention to growing fields such as health care and AI. TIME evaluated contenders based on key factors including originality, efficacy, ambition and impact.
